PM Shehbaz Arrives in Jeddah for High-Level Talks with Saudi Leadership
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Jeddah for a four-day visit to strengthen economic ties with Saudi Arabia. He was received by the Deputy Governor of Makkah, Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The PM, accompanied by top officials including Deputy PM Ishaq Dar and Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz, will meet Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss trade, investment, and economic collaboration.
Tree Plantation Drive Launched Nationwide
Earlier, PM Shehbaz launched the 2025 spring tree plantation campaign, aiming to plant 41.7 million saplings across Pakistan. He urged the public, especially youth and farmers, to participate in combating climate change. The campaign will focus on key species such as Chir Pine, Neem, and Shisham, with nationwide events promoting environmental sustainability. Pakistan, despite its low greenhouse gas emissions, remains highly vulnerable to climate change.
The government continues its Green Pakistan Programme (2024-28), planning 945 million new plantations and sustainable forest management. The initiative aligns with efforts to mitigate climate risks, especially after the devastating 2022 floods.
