The selection of Pakistani astronauts has officially started.
This step follows a space cooperation agreement signed with China in February.
Selection Process in Three Stages
China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) confirmed:
- The first phase is being held in Pakistan.
- The final two phases will take place in China.
- The selection mirrors China’s astronaut recruitment system.
Two Astronauts to Be Chosen
Two Pakistanis will be selected for full training in China.
One will be sent to space as a payload specialist.
That astronaut will:
- Assist the space crew.
- Conduct scientific experiments for Pakistan.
Part of China’s International Space Plans
China is inviting other countries to join future missions.
Talks are underway. Updates will be shared later.
Shenzhou-20 Mission Launching
China will launch the Shenzhou-20 mission this Thursday.
It will carry three astronauts to the Tiangong Space Station.
Mission goals include:
- Crew rotation with Shenzhou-19.
- Equipment installation and space science experiments.
- Biological studies with zebrafish and other organisms.
The astronauts are expected to return in October.
Pakistan Included in China’s New Astronaut Team
For the first time, astronauts from Pakistan, Hong Kong, and Macau are part of China’s training program.
Missions involving Hong Kong and Macau astronauts could begin by 2026.
