Imran Khan Urges PTI to End Talks with Government if Judicial Commission Isn’t Formed Within a Week

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has given the federal government a seven-day deadline to establish a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, according to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. He emphasized that the continuation of the ongoing dialogue process hinges on meeting this demand.

Addressing a press conference outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Monday, Gohar urged the government not to allow delays in negotiations. His statement came in response to remarks by Senator Irfan Siddiqui, the spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee, who recently criticized PTI’s parallel discussions with military leadership, stating, “Negotiations cannot be conducted simultaneously through multiple channels.”

Siddiqui’s comments followed Gohar’s confirmation of a “positive and direct” meeting between PTI representatives, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir. During the meeting, PTI presented their concerns and demands directly to the army chief.

The incarcerated former Prime Minister Imran Khan also confirmed the meeting to reporters, highlighting his party’s persistent efforts to bring the other side to the negotiation table.
