Chinese firm to invest $100M in Pakistan SEZ: PM Office

ISLAMABAD – Chinese firm to invest $100M in Pakistan SEZ: PM Office: The Prime Minister’s Office announced on Wednesday that Challenge Fashion, a leading Chinese textile and apparel manufacturer, will establish a $100 million Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Pakistan over the next five years.

According to the official statement, the investment aims to boost Pakistan’s textile exports, generate thousands of jobs, and strengthen bilateral trade ties under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

The SEZ will reportedly focus on sustainable textile manufacturing, modern apparel technologies, and export-oriented production, positioning Pakistan as a competitive hub in the global textile supply chain.

Prime Minister’s Office said the government will extend full support, including infrastructure facilitation and policy incentives, to ensure smooth implementation of the project.

“This landmark investment reflects the confidence of international investors in Pakistan’s economic potential and will create new opportunities for skilled and semi-skilled workers,” the statement added.

The project is expected to be rolled out in phases, with construction and operational setup beginning in the upcoming fiscal year.

Challenge Fashion already operates in Pakistan through textile ventures and has been expanding its presence in South Asia due to competitive labor costs and favorable trade agreements.

Economic analysts say the move will not only contribute to foreign direct investment (FDI) but also help Pakistan reduce its trade deficit by boosting value-added exports.
