The Ministry of IT and Telecom has unveiled a comprehensive timeline for the rollout of 5G services in Pakistan, aiming for an official launch in June this year.
As per parliamentary records, the Spectrum Advisory Committee’s consultant will submit recommendations by February. By March, the committee plans to finalize critical policy reforms, including spectrum pricing, trading regulations, and taxation structures.
In April, the federal government is set to approve the policy directive, enabling the auction of 3500 MHz, 2600 MHz, 2300 MHz, and 700 MHz spectrum bands in May. Following the auction, telecom operators will begin 5G network operations in June.
The Ministry highlighted this initiative as a pivotal step in its telecommunication transformation strategy, designed to boost internet connectivity nationwide and provide seamless digital access for users across Pakistan.
